Parish School of Religion
Introduction
Purpose of Catechesis
St. Agnes Cathedral offers a program of Catechesis for children preschool through high school for all children in the parish whether they attend public, Catholic or are home schooled. The ultimate goal of the program is to assist parents (the primary teachers) to learn to love Jesus and to form a relationship with him. Our program strives to increase children’s knowledge of the Catholic faith and to better learn to live as disciples of Jesus Christ.
Our program includes the following:
CLOW Children’s Liturgy of the Word: Open to children preschool through second grade on Sunday mornings during the 11:30 Mass. The Sunday Liturgy is explained so the children can better understand its meaning in their lives.
Parish School of Religion: Open to Children is grades K-8 grades on Sunday mornings from 10:00-11:00 AM in the parish school. Using curriculum approved by our diocese, children also go through sacramental preparation as they receive Reconciliation, Eucharist, and Confirmation. Confirmation classes for 8th graders and above are held on Sunday mornings from 10 am -11 am in the School Library. Registration is required
Special Needs Class: Open to children and adults; this class (taught by a certified instructor) is held on Sunday mornings from 10:00-11:00 AM in the school. Registration is required.
